CEPOL is the Budapest-based EU Agency dedicated to developing, implementing, and coordinating training for law enforcement officials.CEPOL aims at facilitating and enhancing cross-border cooperation to prevent and combat serious and organised crime, terrorism, and emerging security threats through targeted vocational training. Training topics range from leadership to law enforcement techniques, from EU cooperation to economic crime, and from cyber sphere to capacity building.The new CEPOL strategy 2023-2027 outlines four strategic goals:become the EU hub for law enforcement training and provide a systematic EU approach to training;foster a common EU law enforcement culture;promote the accreditation of law enforcement vocational training;excel at governance as a modern and efficient EU Agency trusted by its stakeholders.CEPOL courses are designed to facilitate knowledge and sharing of best practices. In line with the CEPOL Regulation, the Agency produces multi-annual Strategic Needs Assessments to identify core capability gaps that require capacity-building through training. Based on the Assessment results, the Agency supports, develops, implements, and coordinates various training activities and learning products for European law enforcement officials.CEPOL has concluded working arrangements with 16 third countries and 18 international organisations or other EU bodies, which enable partners to access the Agency’s electronic Law Enforcement Education Platform, as well as some training activities under specific conditions.The Agency also leads regional cooperation projects for capacity-building in:the Southern Partnership region (EUROMED Police),the Eastern Partnership region (TOPCOP),the Western Balkans (WB PaCT),the Middle East and North Africa (CT INFLOW),Moldova (EU4Security).These projects support partner countries in their fight against serious organised crime and terrorism, and help them to participate in EMPACT.
